This compact crossover (also known as "GX7") is no longer a newcomer to the Russian market (where it has been presented since 2013), but the Chinese do not stop there and at the end of August 2014 showed the Russian public a restyled version of the car - which received an improved design , as well as a new base engine and a long-awaited automatic transmission. The premiere of the novelty took place within the framework of the MIAS, where everyone could get acquainted with it as closely as possible.
The design of the Emgrand X7 was refined by the Italian design studio Italdesign-Guigiaro, which was noted for the work on the appearance of another current novelty of the Geely automaker - the GC5 sedan and hatchback. At the same time, there were no global changes in the appearance of the crossover, restyling was limited to point and subtle improvements that emphasized the sporty character of the car.
The changes were not reflected in the dimensions of the crossover: the length of the Emgrand X7 is 4541 mm, the wheelbase is 2661 mm, the width does not exceed 1833 mm excluding the mirrors, and the height is limited to 1700 mm. The front and rear track of the car are equal to 1560 mm, the ground clearance (clearance) of the crossover is 171 mm. The curb weight of the basic configuration varies from 1490 to 1514 mm and depends on the selected engine.
There are significantly more updates in the interior, but the general style remains the same. The salon, as before, is designed for 5 passengers, is equipped with comfortable seats with a comfortable fit and is distinguished by a fairly high quality of fit of the design elements, so there are no large gaps and obvious gaps in the "Chinese X-seven".
The materials used in the interior decoration are also at the same high level. As for the free space, there is more than enough of it in the front row, and you won't have to squeeze too much in the back, there is even a supply of "air" above your head.
The trunk of the Emgrand X7 is already in the base ready to hide in its depths up to 580 liters of cargo, but if necessary, its useful volume can be increased due to the folding backs of the rear seats.
Specifications. Before restyling, the Emgrand X7 crossover was offered in the Russian open spaces with only one 2.0-liter engine, but now it has moved into the category of "average", because two more power units are promised: the role of the junior is assigned to the 1.8-liter version, known from the Ukrainian (Geely GX7) modification of the crossover, and the 2.4-liter will become the older one.
- The new junior petrol engine has 4 in-line cylinders with a total displacement of 1,792 cc, a multipoint fuel injection system, a variable valve timing system and a 16-valve timing chain with a chain drive. Its upper power limit is limited to 127 hp at 6,000 rpm, and peak torque comes at 162 Nm available at 4,250 rpm. The base engine is aggregated only with a 5-speed "mechanics", thanks to which it can accelerate the "X7" to 165 km / h maximum speed with an average fuel consumption of about 8.4 liters per 100 km of track in a combined operation cycle.
- The familiar 2.0-liter engine also has 4 in-line cylinders, but with a volume of 1997 cc. Its equipment includes distributed fuel injection, 16-valve timing and a variable valve timing system. The maximum output of this motor is 139 hp. at 5900 rpm, and the upper torque limit is limited to 178 Nm at 4000 rpm. As a checkpoint for it, it is proposed, as already familiar, 5-speed "mechanics", or a new 6-range "automatic", produced under the license of the Australian company DSI. With a two-liter engine on board, the X7 crossover is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 170 km / h, while the average gasoline consumption in the combined cycle is about 8.6 liters for versions with manual transmissions and 8.8 liters for modifications with automatic transmissions.
- The new flagship power unit, as we have already noted, has a volume of 2378 cm³, 4 cylinders and is otherwise "structurally similar" to a two-liter one. Maximum power 148 HP at 5700 rpm, and the maximum torque is 210 Nm at 4250 rpm. It works only in tandem with a new 6-speed automatic. The maximum speed, with such a power unit, will be the same (as in the 2.0-liter) 170 km / h (the manufacturer “delicately keeps silent about the dynamics”). Fuel consumption will be higher - about 11 liters in the combined cycle.
The crossover is built on the basis of a front-wheel drive platform and has a monocoque body with a large proportion of high-strength steels and well-thought-out zones of programmable deformation, which allowed the novelty to receive the highest score in the C-NCAP crash tests, thereby achieving the title of the safest crossover in the Chinese domestic car market.
The front end of the Geely Emgrand X7 body is supported by a standard independent suspension with MacPherson struts and an anti-roll bar. At the rear, the car is supported by a multi-link independent suspension. On all wheels, the Chinese install disc brakes, while the front is ventilated with an increased diameter of the brake discs. In all trim levels, the braking system is complemented by ABS and EBD systems. The steering of the crossover is based on a rack and pinion mechanism with a hydraulic booster.
Options and prices. In Russia, the 2016 Emgrand X7 SUV can be purchased in the Standard, Comfort and Luxury trim levels.
For the basic version, they ask for a minimum of 769,000 rubles, for which you get: two front airbags, air conditioning, an uphill start assist system, ABS, ESP, heated front seats, a radio tape recorder, power windows for all doors, a multifunctional steering wheel, 17-inch steel wheels and on-board computer.
You cannot buy a crossover in an intermediate version for less than 794,000 rubles, and the “top-end” version costs from 869,000 rubles. The fully equipped car has in its arsenal: leather interior, dual-zone "climate", tinted windows, front and rear parking sensors, front seat power adjustments, light-alloy "rollers" and other modern equipment.
