The first generation Cadillac CTS sedan made its official debut in 2001 (at the Frankfurt Motor Show), replacing the Catera. The car lasted on the assembly line until 2007, after which the second generation car was released. The "first" CTS was assembled in the United States, Russia, China and Taiwan.

The American business class sedan has the following external body dimensions: 4828 mm long, 1795 mm wide and 1440 mm high. The first generation Cadillac CTS has a solid wheelbase of 2880 mm, and the ground clearance cannot be called modest - 150 mm. In running order, the car weighs from 1625 to 1780 kg, everything depends on the engine installed under the hood.

Six petrol engines were offered for the "first" Cadillac CTS. Four of them are six-cylinder "aspirated" with a V-shaped arrangement of cylinders with a working volume of 2.6 to 3.6 liters, producing from 185 to 258 horsepower (peak thrust - from 245 to 346 Nm). At the top of the engine range are V8 engines of 5.7 and 6.0 liters, generating 405 and 430 "horses" (536 and 580 Nm, respectively). In tandem with the power units are 5- or 6-speed "mechanics" and 5-speed "automatic", which transmit all the traction to the rear wheels.

The "American" is equipped with a fully independent running gear, which is represented by double wishbones at the front, and a multi-link design at the rear. The steering gear is supplemented with a hydraulic booster. Ventilated disc brakes can be seen on each of the four wheels.

In the secondary market of Russia, the 1st generation Cadillac CTS is available at an average price of 400,000 - 800,000 rubles, depending on the installed engine, configuration, year of manufacture and condition.

The sedan has a number of advantages - a solid appearance, powerful engines, a well-thought-out interior with good finishing materials, decent handling and acceptable dynamics.
But not without drawbacks - expensive maintenance, waiting for spare parts can reach several weeks.
