Fastest SUVs

More recently, only a few sports coupes could have such dynamics as in this rating. Following, just as fast, ordinary-looking sedans began to become, but this did not particularly surprise anyone. But when SUVs begin to “flaunt” such indicators, which in the early 90s had a maximum in the region of 180 km / h and gained a hundred in 12-15 seconds ... what will happen next?

Well, what will happen next - the future will show :). And now we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the rating of SUVs capable of gaining 100 km / h from scratch in less than 8 seconds. The second condition is that all the participants of the rally are not just sold in Russia, but sold by official dealers. So…

  1. Porsche Cayenne Turbo S - 0-100 km / h - 5.2 s.
In the first place, predictably, is the Cayenne. The Porsche Cayenne SUV and BMW X5 are the founders of this class of cars. True, the Americans presented two modifications in New York last year - the Grand Cherokee and the TrailBlazer, which, according to them, can accelerate to a hundred even in less than 5 seconds, but, firstly, they are not officially sold in Russia, but in -second, they also have engines - 6.0-liter. And the Porsche Cayenne has a compact 4.5-liter "eight", boosted by turbocharging to 521 liters. with. Acceleration is the same to a hundred, like the BMW M3.
  2. Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG - 0-100 km / h - 5.6 s.
This is, of course, unexpected! With the Cayenne, everything is clear - Porsche would not be a Porsche if it had not created the fastest car in its class. But so that the legendary "Gelendvagen", which God himself commanded to conquer off-road, and not grind asphalt ... Although, when AMG gets down to business, you can expect any surprises. This time, too, AMG mechanics conjured up a V8 engine, installed a mechanical supercharger - and the good old G-class also began to “fly”!
  3. VW Touareg 6.0 W12 - 0-100 km / h - 5.9 s.
The appearance of this car is predictable: Volkswagen could not indifferently watch as Porsche "squeezes all the juice" out of the model, the platform for which they developed together. By the way, the partners' experiments showed the full potential of the Touareg chassis. VW, without thinking twice, put on it their proprietary W12 engine, which is a pair of V6s interlocked with each other with a capacity of 450 hp. The result is the fastest car in the current VW lineup.
  4. BMW X5 4.8iS - 0-100 km / h - 6.1 s.
The BMW SUV (actually a crossover) lost only 0.2 s to the Touareg and 0.5 s to Gelendvagen. However, its result can be considered excellent because it was achieved without any "turbo" or experiments with non-standard "architecture" of the motor. It's just that BMW has always been loved and know how to work with engines. And this time, without any special tweaks, we got 355 liters. with 4.8 liters of working volume. And this is not the limit: on the M3, by the way, it turns out 343 hp from 3.3 liters. So, the X5 still has the potential for growth.
  5. Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 HEMI - 0-100 km / h - 7.1 s.
The old “Indian” Grand Cherokee is struggling to keep up with young competitors, and got, on occasion, a couple of “charged” modifications. True, the SRT-8, the most powerful, is still available only in North America, but 5.7 HEMIs can be bought in Russia. In this version, the Grand Cherokee easily outperforms the Volvo XC90 with V8 and Range Rover Sport, however, having such a head start in terms of engine displacement (5.7 liters - more only in the Touareg), the result could have been higher. Well, Americans do not like to force motors.
  6. Volvo XC90 4.4 V8 - 0-100 km / h - 7.3 s.
The term “Volvo driver” is no longer relevant. Volvo is ditching its image of a family car to transport children from home to school and back. And God forbid you to enter into a “traffic light duel” with the XC90, which stopped nearby in the left lane - it may have the latest V8 from Yamaha with a capacity of 315 hp under the hood. Ford people are generally partial to the engines of this Japanese company: Yamaha has already been under the hood of the Taurus SHO, and now, aiming its Volvo division to capture the US market, the company decided that the newest 4.4 V8 would be just right for the XC90. All in all, it looks like it works.
  7. Range Rover Sport 4.2 Supercharged - 0-100 km / h - 7.6 s.
From a technical point of view, Range Rover Sport is a Land Rover Discovery 3 with the latest generation Range Rover body, the individual panels of which, as well as the general style, have been slightly modified in favor of this very sportiness. And the dynamics - in the standard version it is not outstanding, but here is the 4.2 Supercharged modification, with the Jaguar "eight", boosted by a supercharger to 396 liters. with., already demonstrates the habits of the "jaguar". But the power, unfortunately, could not be realized in a shorter acceleration time - the heavy body and chassis seem to make themselves felt.
