At the end of 2014, the Chinese company Geely officially unveiled its new flagship "full-size" class sedan called "GC9", which became the serial embodiment of the Emgrand KC concept model shown at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show.
But the Russian premiere of the car, which had already managed to "make a rustle" in its historical homeland, took place only in August 2016 at an international bride show in Moscow, and on the way to our country it changed its name to Emgrand GT.
Externally, the Geely Emgrand GT demonstrates a self-sufficient, beautiful and stylistically mature design, which with all its appearance hints at the "representative" positioning. The almost five-meter body of the three-volume box is distinguished by the currently fashionable “coupe-like” silhouette with an elegant roofline, a “window sill” that rises upwards and a developed relief of the sidewalls. At the same time, the car cannot be reproached from other angles for its nondescriptness: its facade with modern lighting technology and a "family" radiator grill looks rich and stylish, and the stern with graceful lanterns, a powerful bumper and two exhaust pipes harmoniously completes its solid appearance.
The overall dimensions of the Geely Emgrand GT allow it to be considered a full-fledged representative of the European class "E": 4956 mm in length, 1513 mm in height and 1861 mm in width. The wheelbase of the four-door is 2850 mm, and the clearance under the "belly" does not exceed 130 mm. In the "combat" state, the vehicle weighs from 1635 to 1780 kg, depending on the decision.
The interior of the car echoes the exterior and grabs attention with its unique design - both austere and elegant: a relief multi-steering wheel with a rim truncated at the bottom, a stylish and laconic "toolbox" and a presentable front panel. In the central part, the dashboard flaunts an 8-inch "TV" of the multimedia center and an ergonomically arranged radio and air conditioning unit. The decoration of the sedan is made at a decent level, and exclusively from high-quality finishing materials - good plastics, glossy and "aluminum" decor and genuine leather.
The front riders in the Geely Emgrand GT find themselves in the arms of comfortable seats with a well-thought-out profile, well-developed sidewalls and a lot of electrical adjustments. The passengers of the second row have nothing to complain about - they have at their disposal a hospitable sofa, the right side of which is adjustable in the longitudinal direction and in the angle of the backrest, with a decent margin of free space and its own climate control unit (in “top-end” solutions).
The luggage compartment of the Chinese sedan is roomy - its capacity is 512 liters. However, the shape of the “hold” is rather intricate, and the massive lid attachments eat up a good part of the volume. The necessary tools and a full-size "spare wheel" are laid under the raised floor.
Specifications. Geely Emgrand GT will be offered to Russian consumers with two variants of gasoline engines, which work in conjunction with an uncontested 6-speed "automatic" DSI brand (has "economical" and "sport" modes) and a front-wheel drive transmission.
- For the "base" sedan, a "derated" four-cylinder 2.4-liter "atmospheric" with a capacity of 148 hp is offered.
- In the engine compartment of the "more advanced" configurations, there is a 1.8-liter inline "four" with a turbocharger, multi-point fuel supply and a 16-valve arrangement, producing 163 "horses" at 5500 rpm and 250 N • m of maximum potential at 1500-4500 rpm / minute.
In acceleration from the start to the first "hundred", the four-door fits into 10-11 seconds, and its maximum capabilities reach 200-210 km / h. In mixed driving mode, the car is content with 8-9 liters of fuel for every 100 kilometers.
In other countries, the "Chinese" also provides: an inline four-cylinder 2.4-liter engine and a V-shaped 3.5-liter "six" (the return of which is 162 and 275 horsepower (210 and 326 N • m of torque, respectively)). They also work with the "six-range automatic" and the front wheel drive.
The Geely Emgrand GT is based on a front-wheel drive "bogie", which implies the widespread use of high-strength steel grades in the body structure. The car's suspension is independent both front and rear: in the first case, double A-shaped levers are installed, and in the second - a multi-link scheme (anti-roll bars are used "in a circle").
The sedan has in its arsenal rack and pinion steering and an electric power amplifier with variable characteristics (on the version with a 2.4-liter engine, a hydraulic booster is used). For braking on the four-door, ventilated front and simple rear discs, working in conjunction with ABS, EBD, BAS and other electronics, are responsible.
Options and prices. Geely Emgrand GT entered the Russian market in February 2017 and is presented in three equipment options: "Standard" (1,389,000 rubles), "Comfort" (1,663,000 rubles) and "Flagship" (1,739,000 rubles).
- Already in the "Standard" configuration, the sedan is equipped with: front and side airbags, ESC and ABS systems, cruise control, 2-zone climate control, light and rain sensors, power steering, rear parking sensors, power accessories for outside mirrors (heating and folding), multifunction steering wheel with leather braid and adjustment (for reach and tilt), keyless entry and ignition system, color 3.5 ″ display, audio system with 6 speakers (and USB and AUX ports), leather seat upholstery, heated front seats, 215/55 R17 wheels on alloy wheels and a tire pressure monitoring system, fog lights and LED rear lights, an electromechanical parking brake ...
- In the "Comfort" version, the number of airbags has been increased to six, instead of "hydraulics" there is an electric power steering, and the tires are 245/45 R18 on cast disks. In addition to the equipment available at the "Standard", there are: front parking sensors, a rear-view camera with dynamic markings, interior lighting, an air quality control system and a panoramic roof, and the multimedia system has an 8 "touchscreen monitor with a wireless interface for connecting mobile devices and 8 speakers, electric adjustment of the driver's seat (in 8 directions, including lumbar support) with a "memory" function.
- In the maximum configuration "Flagship" (plus everything that is available in "Comfort"), the car is equipped with: an additional knee airbag on the driver's side, a head-up display, a monitoring system for "blind" zones, an electric rear window curtain and an automatic parking system.
