At the auto show in New York, which kicked off on April 1, 2015, the world premiere of the 2nd generation of the British "luxury sedan" E-class Jaguar XF took place. For the first time, the car was shown on the sidelines of the Geneva Motor Show - its presentation under the leadership of the chief designer of the brand Ian Callum was held in a dark room, upon entering which they confiscated their phones, but finally the "Briton" was declassified at the end of March during an online smotrin.
The appearance of the 2nd generation Jaguar XF sedan is tailored in the current style of the manufacturer (it seems that this is just a scaled XE sedan) and is expressed by decisive, progressive and sporty forms. The front of the premium three-volume box flaunts the aggressive squint of narrow LED headlights with "stick" running lights, a "faceted" hood, a branded radiator grille and a powerful bumper with large air ducts.

The sleek silhouette of the second XF, with its sloping roofline, short overhangs and large wheel arch lines, is accentuated by expressive embossing for a fast and purposeful look.

The most striking detail at the rear is the thin line of F-type LED lights, with two semi-circular elements on each side, visually increasing the size of the car. No less impressive is the embossed bumper with a diffuser and two exhaust pipes (the four-cylinder versions will have one pipe).

Compared to its predecessor, the second generation XF has become somewhat more compact: 4954 mm in length, 1457 mm in height and 1987 mm in width (including exterior mirrors - 2091 mm). The car turned out to be 7 mm shorter and 3 mm lower, but the wheelbase, on the contrary, added 51 mm at once and reached 2960 mm. The ground clearance of this British sedan is 130 mm (at full load - 116 mm).

Inside, the Jaguar XF is perceived as a real premium car, and a certain credit for this belongs to the XJ motives. The dashboard is represented by a 12.3-inch display (by default - an analogue combination with a 5-inch screen), the picture on which can be configured to your liking, and in front of it is the multifunctional steering wheel, familiar from other models of the brand.

The front panel, divided along a horizontal overlay, contains an 8-inch touch screen of the inControl complex with a 4-core processor (optional - 10.2-inch). At the bottom of the center console there is a button block for an air conditioner with a clear layout, and just below there are two rounds: an audio system volume knob and a starter button, and their backlight line repeats the motif of the rear optics.

Traditionally for "Jaguars", high-quality finishing materials are used inside the E-class luxury sedan - soft and expensive plastics, genuine leather, inserts made of real wood and aluminum. And the quality of performance is at the appropriate level.

The British Jaguar XF sedan of the 2nd generation is equipped with comfortable front seats with optimal padding, a tenacious profile and a wide range of adjustments. Formally, the car is five-seater, but the rear sofa cushion is molded for two people, and the high transmission tunnel will bring discomfort to the central passenger. The increased wheelbase had a positive effect on the organization of free space - there is plenty of it in the knee zone, and the ceiling, thanks to its molding, presses on the heads of tall riders.

Due to the abandonment of the spare wheel, the trunk volume of the three-volume was slightly increased - 540 liters with a tire repair kit. As an option, a "dock" will be available, reducing the compartment capacity to 505 liters, the back of the sofa in all versions folds in two asymmetrical parts.

Specifications. On the Russian market, the "second x eff" will be offered with two diesel and one gasoline units, in tandem to which an 8-band automatic and rear-wheel drive transmission will be separated (in the future, a "smart" all-wheel drive system may appear).

  • The basic version of the sedan will receive a four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbodiesel of the Ingenium family, producing 180 horsepower at 4000 rpm and 430 Nm of peak thrust at 1750-2500 rpm. Thanks to these characteristics, the "Briton" gains the first hundred in 8.1 seconds with a maximum performance of 229 km / h, consuming only 4.3 liters of diesel fuel in the combined cycle.
  • The "top" diesel variant is a 3.0-liter V6 with twin turbocharging, the potential of which reaches 300 horsepower at 4000 rpm and 700 Nm of thrust at 2000 rpm. It provides the "second" Jaguar XF acceleration to the first hundred in 5.8 seconds, a "maximum" of 250 km / h and an average fuel consumption of 5.5 liters in the combined cycle.
  • The gasoline part of the British sedan is formed by one unit - a 2.0-liter aluminum "four" with turbocharging and direct fuel injection, which produces 240 "mares" at 5500 rpm and 340 Nm at 1750-4000 rpm. The result is as follows - 7 seconds from 0 to 100 km / h, 248 km / h of the maximum possible speed, 4.3 liters of fuel per 100 km in mixed mode.

In Europe, a 2.0-liter turbo diesel with 163 horsepower (380 Nm at 1750-2500 rpm) will also be available for the 2nd generation XF. With it, as well as with the 180-horsepower version, in addition to an automatic transmission, a 6-speed "mechanics" is combined.
The most interesting looks are gasoline V-shaped "sixes" with a volume of 3.0 liters with an aluminum structure and direct fuel supply to the combustion chamber. The turbocharged version generates 340 "horses" at 6500 rpm and 450 Nm of thrust at 4500 rpm, and with a mechanically driven displacement supercharger - 380 forces and 460 Nm at the same speed. The performance indicators for both options do not differ: 5.4 seconds to the first hundred and 250 km / h of maximum capabilities.

The second generation Jaguar XF, factory index X260, is built on the new IQ [AI] architecture, which also underpins the XE compact sedan. The body of the car is 75% made of "winged" metal, due to which the curb weight in some versions compared to its predecessor has decreased by 190 kg and ranges from 1545 to 1750 kg. The torsional rigidity of the body increased by 28% to 22,000 Nm / deg, but this figure is far behind its competitors: the BMW 5-Series has 37,500 Nm / deg.

The front and rear suspension systems on the British sedan are completely made of aluminum: a double-wishbone structure is installed at the front, and an integral multi-link structure at the rear. As an option, the X-ff will be equipped with an adaptive suspension Adaptive Dynamics, which scans the road conditions in real time and adjusts to the driving style. The steering gear is equipped with an electric power-assisted ZF company and a rack with a variable tooth pitch. Ventilated brake discs are applied to all wheels, and modern electronic assistants help them produce effective deceleration.

Options and prices. Sales of the second generation Jaguar XF in the European market will begin in the fall of 2015, in the UK the sedan will be available at a price of 32,300 pounds sterling. It is expected that at the same time the car will reach the Russian market, the cost is promised to be announced later. The standard equipment of the premium three-volume is as follows - 17-inch alloy wheels, a multimedia system with an 8-inch display, an 8-speaker audio system, road surface adaptation technology, leather trim, front and side airbags, climate control, autonomous emergency braking and a host of other options.
