Honda Jazz is a front-wheel drive hatchback of a subcompact category, which combines attractive design, functional and spacious interior and modern technical components ... The target audience of the one-volume vehicle is not delineated by any strict framework - it is both practical youth and married couples (including those with children ), and elderly people ...

The world premiere of Honda Jazz of the next, fourth in a row, generation took place on October 23, 2019 on the catwalks of the International Tokyo Auto Show, but then - under the local name Fit and without any technical details, but already in mid-February 2020, the Japanese completely declassified not only all characteristics of the model, but also its European version.

Compared to its predecessor, the car evolved outwardly, trying on a simpler design, "moved" to a modernized platform, practically unchanged in size, received a thoroughly redesigned interior with the family's transformation system and acquired a cross-modification Crosstar.

"Jazz" of the fourth generation looks attractive, balanced and laconic - a menacingly frowned "face" with expressive headlights, a "smile" of a radiator grille and a bumped bumper, a harmonious silhouette with a shortened front end, "clean" sidewalls and regular strokes of wheel arches, tightened stern with stylish lanterns, "intricate" trunk lid and a neat bumper.

It is worth noting that the Crosstar version can be recognized thanks to the increased ground clearance, unpainted plastic armor around the body, roof rails and wheels of the original design.

Size and weight

The length of the fourth generation Honda Jazz is 3995 mm, of which 2530 mm is the distance between the front and rear axles, the width reaches 1695 mm, and the height does not exceed 1515 mm (while the "off-road" version is 95 mm longer, 30 mm wider and 30 mm higher).

In the curb condition, the hatch weighs from 1070 to 1280 kg, depending on the version.

Interior

The interior of the five-door is made in the spirit of minimalism, but at the same time it is able to boast of a beautiful, solid and modern design - a stylish multi-steering wheel with a two-spoke rim, a digital instrument cluster "drawn" on a 7-inch display, a laconic center console with a 9-inch informational tablet. - an entertainment complex and an unpretentious air conditioning unit with three regulators.

Exceptionally durable materials are used inside the car - pliable plastics, water-repellent fabric, etc.

Front riders in the "Jazz" of the fourth incarnation rely on seats with an optimal side profile, pronounced lumbar support, wide adjustment intervals and heating. On the second row there is an ergonomically profiled sofa that can accommodate three adult passengers, and a completely flat floor, but the complete absence of any additional amenities.

With a five-seat layout, the trunk of the subcompact hatchback is small - only 298 liters. At the same time, one of the features of the car is the family transformation system: so the rear row of seats, divided into two unequal sections, can either fit flush with the floor, increasing the usable volume to 1203 liters, or be placed vertically to arrange loads of various shapes.

Characteristics

In European countries, the fourth-generation Honda Jazz is offered exclusively in the e: HEV hybrid version, which includes a 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol "aspirated" with a displacement of 1.5 liters, working on the Atkinson cycle and generating 98 horsepower and 127 Nm of torque, and two electric motors: one of them is connected to the main motor and operates in generator mode, and the other generates 109 hp. and 253 Nm of peak traction and turns the front wheels.

The hatchback's hybrid drive can operate in three modes:

  • Engine Drive - the petrol "four" has a direct connection with the wheels through an innovative transmission with a fixed gear ratio, a set of gears and a clutch;
  • Hybrid Drive - the internal combustion engine powers the electric motor-generator, which, in turn, supplies energy to the traction electric motor;
  • EV Drive - the electric motor is directly connected to a lithium-ion battery.

The first "hundred" five-door changes after 9.4 seconds, reaches a maximum of 175 km / h, and in the combined cycle, on average, consumes about 4.5 liters of fuel for every 100 km of run.

Design

The fourth "release" of the Honda Jazz is built on a "front-wheel drive" platform with a monocoque body, in the power structure of which high-strength and ultra-high-strength steels are widely used (the latter's share is 18%). On the front axle of the car, an independent suspension of the MacPherson type is mounted, and on the rear there is a semi-independent system with a torsion beam (both there and there - with anti-roll bars).

The hatchback has rack and pinion steering and active electric power steering. All wheels of the five-door are equipped with disc brakes (ventilated at the front), which are complemented by ABS, EBD and other "chips".

Options and prices

In the countries of the Old World (or to be more precise, in Germany) Honda Jazz of the fourth incarnation is sold at a price of 22,000 euros (≈1.5 million rubles), and for the cross-version of Crosstar there you will have to pay at least 26,250 euros (≈1.8 million rubles).

Already in the "base" the hatchback has: ten airbags, a virtual instrument cluster, air conditioning, an audio system, power windows for all doors, an automatic braking system, adaptive cruise control, a technology for recognizing road signs, pedestrians and cyclists, a lane keeping system and a number of other options ...
